Gameplay:
I imagine a more refined version of the fangame sonic world: m.youtube.com/watch?v=8qGzeUMc…
But with the occasional hack and slash stuff seen in stuff like kingdom hearts or sonic and the black knight, and along the way you'd be able to nab collectables kinda like the banjo kazooie series and sonic boom: rise of lyric. The collectables would not be necessary to beat the game (unlike sonic unleashed), but if you collect them all you get a secret boss fight against perfect chaos (which is much better than collecting every red star ring In sonic lost world just to unlock super sonic)
And there would be an online multiplayer mode kinda like this: m.youtube.com/watch?v=LYid3TCz…
